The door is one of the most universal symbols in our consciousness. It represents a transition between two worlds, a boundary between past and future, between the known and the unknown. We close doors to protect ourselves and our privacy, and we open them to welcome something new. A door marks a boundary, yet at the same time, it is a sign of change. Standing before an open door can symbolize an opportunity, a new beginning, or a leap into the unknown. This phenomenon is evident in both literature and art, where the door often represents a defining moment in a person’s life. A child stepping through the school gate on their first day of school or an adult crossing the threshold into a new job both experience a transition – where something old closes, and something new begins.
Thus, a philosophical reflection on my current state – a phase in life where I opportunistically open closed doors and explore what lies behind them.
